Brandr's task is to find and protect Logan, the last of the druids who are to close the Veil which allows Faerie to enter the human world. The problem is that when the Viking arrives in the right place, he can't find any druids, although he can sense them. However, at some point a small group of druids appears out of nowhere, and they manage to close the Veil. Unfortunately, not all of them manage to stay unscathed, just like Brandr. That's why during his first meeting with Logan, the young man must put two pieces of the Viking's body together.

"Mending the Rift" is the final volume of the first part of "Druid's Curse" series. In the case of this novel, it should undoubtedly be noted that to some extent it begins much differently than the previous ones. As we all remember, until now the Vikings were helping druids and protecting them from the attacks and danger coming from the other side of the Veil. However, in this installment the author decided to spice her story up a little bit, because this time, to some extent, the druids save themselves, and our brave Brandr loses his head too early to be useful during the next stages of the battle. What's more, if not for his fated druid, it's hard to tell how long the Viking would have to wait for help and for someone who would put parts of his body together. Thus, Shea Balik not only gives the beginning of this novel a refreshing vibe, but also makes it somewhat funny, which is all the more important since we soon learn the dramatic situation of some of the druids hiding with Logan.

To be honest, in one way or another, the family has a very important place in "Druid's Curse" series. On the one hand, there is the topic of losing it, on the other, we have its surviving members, the problem of rejection, love, building. However, reviewing this volume I would like to note that in "Mending the Rift" we are clearly able to notice the formation of a family made up of people who are often not related by blood. The author really managed to capture in a great way how these inseparable, unique bonds are created between a group of strangers. I admit that if I were to write in details about the manner in which "Mending the Rift" so well shows the topic of building a family and state the differences between the way the topic is presented in this volume and in previous ones, I would not be able to do it. Well, it is somehow hard to catch, but it's definitely noticeable, because when I was reading this volume and I was feeling it in my heart all the time.

A very interesting element of "Mending the Rift" is also the fact that the author in this final volume surprises us with certain discoveries that are made about the Vikings' and druids' missions. What can I say? Until now, the matter seemed quite simple and the goal was clearly defined and certain. However, the author decided to play with her readers to some extent, because suddenly the things that have been certain just until now, become seriously complicated. Thus, our characters must not only deal with the problem of the Veil being torn apart by Faerie, but also accept the truths they learn about their missions. To be honest, I didn't expect the author to do something like that in this volume of the series, but I'm glad she did it.

To sum up, "Mending the Rift" is a very interesting and nice ending of the first part of the fantastic and twisted series that really won my heart over. We find here not only a fascinating story and love that makes us smile, but also a lot of wonderful characters with whom we would like to meet again. I recommend you "Mending the Rift" with all my heart and thus the whole "Druid's Curse" series .

The end would be upon Brandr and his friends soon. The only question, would Brandr be able to find his fated one in time? He feared he was too late when he arrived to find the field empty. Then the Veil opens again and hell rains down upon him as the Unseelie pets attack. But when Brandr was too injured to move, the Druid he was destined to claim as his own flees in terror. Talk about demoralizing.

That did not happen. Not even in some weird fantasy could Logan have imagined that a dead man could come back to life. And he had definitely been dead, since Logan had to put his head back on his body. But when he was faced with the truth, that the man was immortal, Logan has to admit to being…intrigued.

But as Samhain draws closer, the danger around them increases as the Fae converge. The Fae must be defeated if Brandr and Logan hope to find their happily ever after. Only by working together will have any chance of Mending the Rift and saving humanity.

Who would have thought there was something more horrifying than an indoor boy being forced to live in the Amazon? Yet, there was. In fact, the more descriptive word would be mind-numbingly terrifying. That it was brought into his life by a drop dead gorgeous man claiming he was there to protect Wylie, only made everything that much more surreal.

Since the first druid came into their lives, Fritjof prayed he would never meet the druid that was destined to be his fated love. He knew that emotion would always lead to devastation and heartache. He’d seen it, experienced it, when his mother disowned him for not being able to save his father.

But what happens when the Fae goes after someone they both love? Will they be able to find a way to trust in each other? Are some things impossible to overcome or is it Mind Over Matter?

Mingus had one true love in life, animals. None of them were off the list, although, if he were completely honest, his favorite was his cat, Pretty Baby. He never imagined one day he might have to put someone else first. Not just anyone, but the man who has stolen his heart.

For centuries Oluf has dreamed of finding the one destined to be his. He’d even anticipated the need to woo him by becoming a chef. After all, according to his mother, the way to a man’s heart was through his stomach. What he hadn’t expected was that he would come in second to a cat with sharp claws, who seemed to enjoy using people as her personal scratching post.

As Mingus, Oluf, and their friends get closer to Samhain, the Fae will try to stop them using everything at their disposal. It means finding a way to work together, even if it takes shedding a few Tears of Life to do so. But in the end, will the fate of the human world come down to a cat?
