Mingus perfectly knows his priorities. The first one is his beloved cat, whom he cares for almost like for a child. Anyway, the druid loves all animals very much. So when he has to run away from the horde of Fae's pets, the man must first make sure that his cat is safe, and only then he has some time to take care of his own safety. That's why Oluf doesn't have an easy task, since he has to compete with the pet for the love of his druid.

"Tears of Life" is the next, seventh, part of "Druid's Curse" by Shea Balik, a series about brave Vikings and magic-wielding druids. After the great dramas of the previous volume, we return to the relatively lighter tone of the story presented by the author. What's more, both the characters and their feelings are characterized by sweetness, which so often emanated from previous parts. This undoubtedly means that the reader has the opportunity to catch their breath after the events of "Mind over Matter". However, it doesn't mean that this volume is completely devoid of drama and only makes the sugar level in our blood higher. Nice and positive atmosphere dominates in "Tears of Life", but it is not ubiquitous as here and there it gives way to more depressing topics. In particular, when we reach the end of this installment of the series.

The undoubted advantage of "Tears of Life" is in my opinion the fact that in this volume we have the characters of Mingus's parents, who, unlike those shown in the previous parts, survive the first attacks of Fae's pets and love their son no matter what. It's a really nice change after what we've seen in the series so far. The more so because they have some influence on the positive atmosphere of this volume. I admit that the role they play in this installment may not be particularly great, but they certainly can not be ignored when reading this novel. Those characters are very cautious people, who set a good example if we consider the need to perform the Veil closing rituals. In short, Mingus's parents are the characters who I started to love at the beginning of the volume.

I think in this volume of the series, and especially at the end of it,  it also seems important that one of the side characters becomes crucial for the action of this installment, as the author doesn't forget about this person, although she probably could. Let's be honest, Shea Balik could easily ignore the fact that in her series, apart from the main sixteen people, and in this volume seventeen, other characters also appear. It would be undeniably easier than developing some of the threads only to some extent related to all of our main characters. However, the author decided to show us that the characters, which we have been ignoring for various reasons, also can surprise us and be of great significance to this story. In particular, when it comes to someone who has been incredibly annoying up to now.

In summary, "Tears of Life" is quite a pleasant and undoubtedly interesting part of the series. At first, we are surrounded by this truly wonderful sweetness of the characters and their story, only to step into some dramatic and really surprising events at some point. In short, I recommend you this novel because it is really worth reading.

Ancient Druids, who monitored the Veil for centuries, curse a band of marauding Vikings. Now immortal and shifters, the cursed men must protect today’s Druids from Unseelie minions, allowing them to continue the rituals that protect all of humanity.

Blurb

Mingus had one true love in life, animals. None of them were off the list, although, if he were completely honest, his favorite was his cat, Pretty Baby. He never imagined one day he might have to put someone else first. Not just anyone, but the man who has stolen his heart.

For centuries Oluf has dreamed of finding the one destined to be his. He’d even anticipated the need to woo him by becoming a chef. After all, according to his mother, the way to a man’s heart was through his stomach. What he hadn’t expected was that he would come in second to a cat with sharp claws, who seemed to enjoy using people as her personal scratching post.

As Mingus, Oluf, and their friends get closer to Samhain, the Fae will try to stop them using everything at their disposal. It means finding a way to work together, even if it takes shedding a few Tears of Life to do so. But in the end, will the fate of the human world come down to a cat?

Blurb

Who would have thought there was something more horrifying than an indoor boy being forced to live in the Amazon? Yet, there was. In fact, the more descriptive word would be mind-numbingly terrifying. That it was brought into his life by a drop dead gorgeous man claiming he was there to protect Wylie, only made everything that much more surreal.

Since the first druid came into their lives, Fritjof prayed he would never meet the druid that was destined to be his fated love. He knew that emotion would always lead to devastation and heartache. He’d seen it, experienced it, when his mother disowned him for not being able to save his father.

But what happens when the Fae goes after someone they both love? Will they be able to find a way to trust in each other? Are some things impossible to overcome or is it Mind Over Matter?

The END is NEAR!

The Fae must be defeated if Brandr and Logan hope to find their happily ever after. Only by working together will have any chance of Mending the Rift and saving humanity.

Blurb

The end would be upon Brandr and his friends soon. The only question, would Brandr be able to find his fated one in time? He feared he was too late when he arrived to find the field empty. Then the Veil opens again and hell rains down upon him as the Unseelie pets attack. But when Brandr was too injured to move, the Druid he was destined to claim as his own flees in terror. Talk about demoralizing.

That did not happen. Not even in some weird fantasy could Logan have imagined that a dead man could come back to life. And he had definitely been dead, since Logan had to put his head back on his body. But when he was faced with the truth, that the man was immortal, Logan has to admit to being…intrigued.

But as Samhain draws closer, the danger around them increases as the Fae converge. The Fae must be defeated if Brandr and Logan hope to find their happily ever after. Only by working together will have any chance of Mending the Rift and saving humanity.
