"Amos Ridge" written by B.L. Maxwell is the next installment in the "Beyond the Realm: Remember" series , which is created by several authors. This time, the reader becomes part of a unique story that resembles paranormal YA novels. Or at least that's how I've seen it when reading this book. I must admit that the vibe of this novel came as a surprise to me as "Amos Ridge" differs to a large extent from what I've read in first and second volume. It's fantastic because it really fits the title of the series. But let's get back to the topic. "Amos Ridge" has elements of science-fiction novels, such as travel between dimensions, technology still exceeding the achievements of our modern world. But what reminded me of YA was the fact that our characters have certain skills that they can use to change the world, and the novel focuses mainly on the them and their "powers". I suspect that many readers will have a different opinion on this topic than mine, however, I've felt this vibe in the book and I liked it very much.
Reviewing "Amos Ridge", I can't forget about a fast-paced action, which is undoubtedly one of the great advantages of this novel. To be honest, reading this book, the reader doesn't have time to take a breathe, and neither does our heroes. Everything is moving forward really fast, things happen quickly and most importantly, our boys don't have much time to think about their next move. They are forced to react quickly, make quick decisions, assess the situation. I think that this pace also affects the reader who follows the events with bated breath and keeps his fingers crossed for our characters. After all, they find themselves in a situation where any mistake can have unpleasant consequences for them. I must admit that reading "Amos Ridge" each page is of great importance and on each of them something can happen that will completely change the whole problem which Drew and Colby face. This novel is a real page-turner.
In fact, "Amos Ridge" is a novel that often surprises the readers. The first reason behind this is the fact that the action focuses mainly on "time travels". We expect, or at least I expected, that the romantic theme dominates in this story, but in reality the plot revolves primarily around our characters' abilities. As the novel unfolds, there are also some unexpected plot twists which, due to the fast pace, surprise us all the more. After all, a reader who, while reading a novel, has no time to analyze it or reflect on it, is a reader who is easy to surprise. I'm glad that B.L. Maxwell uses this fact in such a perfect way. The more the author puts pressure on the characters and forces them to act, the faster the reader's heart beats as reading becomes more emotional.
All in all, "Amos Ridge" is a good, very interesting novel that keeps up the fast pace from the beginning to the end. The universe in which Drew and Colby's story is set is truly fascinating and absorbing, so it definitely deserves our attention. To discover its secrets, reach for "Amos Ridge". It's really worth it!
