River is a talented, very popular and loved by fans rock band singer, but few know that privately, he has been stuck in a toxic, violent relationship with his manager. However, one day, River gets a chance for a new life when one of his band members offers him help and a safe haven away from the long-time tormentor. It is thanks to his savior that he meets Winston, an older cowboy who, although wants to help River, doesn't really trust him. At least until he learns the truth about the singer's problems and becomes more and more attracted to him.

"The Cowboy's Rockstar" is the second volume in "Black Meadow Ranch" series by Giovanna Reaves and the first book by this author that I have read. To be honest, when I started reading this novel, I didn't quite know whether I should prepare myself more for the drama or sweetness and fluff. It soon turned out, however, that "The Cowboy's Rockstar" interweaves sad, difficult and heavy topics with the light, calm ones. Thanks to this fact, the author's style is really pleasant and will undoubtedly appeal to every reader. Especially when we combine it with a really interesting and unpredictable story. This way, we get a captivating page-turner. Reading this book, we don't really know what the next chapter will bring us, whether it will make us sad or happy. However, it is worth mentioning that regardless of the individual chapters' vibe, together they create a truly captivating book.

I also want to add that in "The Cowboy's Rockstar" I love the way the characters are created as they are as complex as any real-life person, and therefore can change quite often, depending on their mood or mental comfort. We can see it at the beginning of the novel, when we get to know Winston. It's been a long time since I had come across a character that would be so cold and hot depending on what's going on in their head. As for River, he is an even more complicated character and it's mostly because of his psyche and problems he faces. However, I think that instead of telling you about it, I will let you find out for yourself when you read the novel. Well, I also must mention that in "The Cowboy's Rockstar" we really see that man is a complex organism that works like a machine driven by gears. When one fails or loses a tooth, the entire machine is noticeably affected.

As for River and Win, I think it is also important that these characters allow each other to bloom in many ways. They don't really need each other to exist, but they are essential to each other, so that by giving their best in love and life, they can receive as much from the other person as they gave, and thus they can develop, change for the better, achieve more and simply be fulfilled in their life. I also have the impression that the closer they get, the more they rely on each other, to some extent regardless of what they want. It is natural in any long-term relationship, so I am glad that in "The Cowboy's Rockstar" even this detail was not forgotten, which best reflects the closeness of the main characters, the intimacy of their relationships, the strength of their feelings.

Finally, it is worth writing a little more about the psychological aspect of this novel, as it is very complex and is one of its most important elements. I think there's no doubt that I should mentioned that psychologically, "The Cowboy's Rockstar" covers many different topics, most of which are closely related. After all, they mainly concern the character of River who for years suffered in a toxic relationship without seeking help from anyone to suddenly find out that he is not alone, he can rely on others if he allows himself to do so and finds the strength to fight for the normal life, for freedom. Finding himself and fixing the evil done by his brutal partner is just the tip of the psychological iceberg that we find in "The Cowboy's Rockstar". Undoubtedly, it has a big impact on our emotions, as well as makes this novel deeper, more serious and unforgettable.

To sum up, "The Cowboy's Rockstar" is a really well-written and interesting novel that moves the reader from the very first pages, keeps them in suspense, warms them up and makes them smile. In this book, we find everything we like so much about romance, plus there is no shortage of drama, love and sexual tension. I recommend "The Cowboy's Rockstar" with all my heart. You must read this novel.
